On April 29, 2024, the Maritim Golfpark Ostsee in Timmendorf was the location of a special event: the German Greenkeeper Championships of the GVD and the championships of Greenkeeper Nord e.V. took place here in a festive atmosphere. The occasion was a very special one, celebrating the 50th anniversary of Greenkeeper Nord and the 30th anniversary of the Greenkeeper Nord tournament.
The event offered a varied program for experienced greenkeepers as well as curious golf enthusiasts and experts. During the tournament, in which the best in the industry competed against each other, newcomers had the opportunity to experience the fascination of golf in a taster course. After a day full of sporting challenges, the winners were honored in a festive ceremony at the Tee Time Restaurant, where all participants were warmly welcomed. In the evening, the 73Bar of the Hotel Maritim was exclusively available to the greenkeepers and experts to celebrate the anniversaries with a cheerful get-together.
The following day was dedicated to the Golf Field Day. Here, visitors were able to learn about the latest developments in the industry from experts. The Maritim Golfpark Ostsee catered for the physical well-being and rounded off the day with an informative and culinary experience.
The numerous exhibitors presented an impressive range of machines and equipment required for the many different tasks on a golf course. The evening provided a further highlight with a festive anniversary celebration. A magician, who captivated his audience with clever card tricks, provided entertainment, accompanied by the gentle sounds of a pianist.
The speeches by Frank Schäfer and Michael Paletta, in which they paid tribute to the founding of the association, were moving and inspiring. The Eastern Association conveyed congratulations and a gift to the Northern Association, underlining the bond between the two. GVD President Gert Schulte-Bunert also congratulated on the special anniversary on behalf of the entire association. The day was brought to a fitting close at midnight with a birthday party. An all-round successful event that will be remembered by everyone involved for a long time to come.
